In today’s Kansas City Star:
…said her anger is real.
The Lee’s Summit resident fears Obama’s plans for health care reform won’t work, and she resents criticism of the town hall outbursts.
“I don’t remember criticism of the people shouting, ‘Thousands died, Bush lied,'” she said. “It was OK to demonize Bush, but when we’re talking about real policy issues, we mustn’t mention it…”
Lying to get us to a war in Iraq or to gin up Homeland Security alerts for partisan political gain before a national election weren’t “real policy issues”? It boggles the mind.
“…I don’t remember criticism of the people shouting, ‘Thousands died, Bush lied,’ she said….”
Matthews, Gingrich, Hannity, others seize on new bin Laden tape to discredit war critics
January 20, 2006 3:47 pm ET…Several media figures have seized on Osama bin Laden’s newly released audiotape to denounce critics of the Bush administration’s conduct of the war in Iraq. Explicitly asserting comparisons between bin Laden and prominent war critics…

ANTI-WAR PROTESTS CONTINUE WITH LARGE CROWDS IN N.Y…Signs from the demonstrators supporting war read, “We Gave Peace a Chance and It Cost Us 9/11” and “Anti-War is Anti-American…”
And it goes on and on and on and on…
To quote a Congressman from Massachusetts: “On what planet do you spend most of your time?”
* it’s okay if you’re a republican
The angry woman quoted in the Kansas City Star article is a Lee’s Summit resident named “Helen Gough.”
Who is Hellen Gough of Lee’s Summit?
In addition to having a letter published on the Kansas City Star‘s web site that asked, “Do Muslim men look at me as a piece of uncovered meat ready for rape?”1, she was the Treasurer of the “Gough 08”, the campaign committee of Bob Gough’s run for Lee’s Summit City Council.2
So who is Bob Gough of Lee’s Summit?
In addition to authoring such charming Lee’s Summit Post-Tribune op-eds as “Darwin and Intelligent Design”,3 Bob Gough serves as the Deputy Treasurer to Republican State Rep. Will Kraus.4 He also runs the KC Pachyderm Club (“An Official Allied Organization of the Republican National Committee”)5 and the Lee’s Summit Republican Club.6
In other words, Bob and Hellen Goughs have an openly and notoriously partisan Republican household.
And yet the Kansas City Star chose to portray Hellen Gough — a woman who’s extremist lunacy was published on the KC Star’s own website! — as an average worried citizen who’s angry about the health care reform plan.
Hellen Gough isn’t angry about health care reform.
Helen Gough is angry that Barack Obama is the President of the United States.

I saw that today in the Star and wondered the same Barney Frank question.
As we all know, everyone carried guns to demonstrations against Bush and everyone was carrying a likeness of Bush as Hitler.
