What a beautiful day for a rally!  The weather is perfect and the setting is ideal.

Harpers

The front of Harper’s – an upscale bar and restaurant in the Jazz district.  I have to give them a plug – I am using their WiFi and drinking their club soda.

The stage where the next First Lady will be speaking.  We got here about an hour before the gates opened for the press, got our credentials and wandered around a bit until we found Harper’s, where we sat and watched the street fill up.

Street filling up

Wow.  In Kansas City, we do love us some Michelle Obama, and we will turn out to make her feel welcome.

Family

This family just looks so…hopeful.

You can do worse than having Ida McBeth sing the National Anthem.

Michelle Obama looking at the crowd

She shielded her eyes to make sure that they  weren’t playing tricks on her – they weren’t – the street was packed for three blocks.

Sea of People

It was wall-to-wall people, from Woodland to The Paseo.  I think there might have been as many as 4000, or even 5000 people in attendance.
