What a beautiful day for a rally! The weather is perfect and the setting is ideal.
The front of Harper’s – an upscale bar and restaurant in the Jazz district. I have to give them a plug – I am using their WiFi and drinking their club soda.
The stage where the next First Lady will be speaking. We got here about an hour before the gates opened for the press, got our credentials and wandered around a bit until we found Harper’s, where we sat and watched the street fill up.
Wow. In Kansas City, we do love us some Michelle Obama, and we will turn out to make her feel welcome.
The crowd surging forward.

This family just looks so…hopeful.
You can do worse than having Ida McBeth sing the National Anthem.
She shielded her eyes to make sure that they weren’t playing tricks on her – they weren’t – the street was packed for three blocks.
It was wall-to-wall people, from Woodland to The Paseo. I think there might have been as many as 4000, or even 5000 people in attendance.
