Three of the four candidates for state treasurer–Andria Simckes, Charles Wheeler, and Clint Zweifel–spoke at the candidates forum at West County Dems on Monday. (The fourth candidate, Mark Powell, did not attend.) You’ll get the most accurate idea of them if I just let them introduce themselves, as they each did in a three minute speech.
If a picture is worth a thousand words, how many words is twelve minutes of video worth? I think it will tell you a great deal about who you want to vote for. … But it will still leave you with a tough choice.
1) High-speed rail down the middle of I-70? What? Did Richard T. Bullet Train Pisani make a comeback?
2) Clint Zweifel was very good there and pretty darned precise in his introduction and his answer.

Charlie Wheeler is pretty interesting, but I’d prefer he not be the nominee in 2008. I’d vote for Wheeler over Lager, but that election would be a bit awkward.
I decided recently to go with Zweifel (whose last name I was expecting to be pronounced “ziffle”). And the videos just reinforce that.
Nothing serious against Simckes, who is also pretty knowledgable and on the ball. But Clint seems like a pretty good choice and someone who I’m confident can help complete a November sweep (of Obama, Nixon, Page, Carnahan, the Treasurer nominee, and the Attorney General nominee)
