2010, Fired Up!, missouri, top ten

Our good friends at Fired Up! posted their top ten list of quotes for the year. Check it out:

Ten for 2010: The Quotiest Quotes of the Year

To which we would add:

“I did not pay for, approve or have any knowledge of the robocall, nor do I condone its message….”

– statement by Representative Denny Hoskins (r-121) which appeared in the Warrensburg Daily Star-Journal on the same day that his campaign made a payment for “push cards” to the same company that made the robocalls.

And…

“…As you can see, I did not request funding be withheld or rescinded…”

– Representative Denny Hoskins (r-121) in his September 20, 2010 “Capitol Report” – after funds for a local film festival were withdrawn. Eight days later the Warrensburg Daily Star Journal reported: “….Rep. Denny Hoskins took partial credit for the withdrawal of funds in a Sept. 10 release labeled, ‘Rep. Denny Hoskins helps recover Social Services funding inappropriately used….'”

Add your own favorites in the comments, if you’ve got ’em.

We are not worthy…

Cynthia Davis, Fired Up!, missouri

We never get out of junior high school.

Via our good friends at Fired Up!:

Cynthia Davis

I outlasted Keith Olbermann! I’m still in public office and he off the air. I owe him a debt of gratitude for propelling me to national fame and for getting me on the Steven Colbert Show. The lesson is that good people win in the end and mockers go by the wayside. He may never understand how God used him to demonstrate the truth of Proverbs 22:10.

I don’t believe Cynthia Davis understands the premise of Stephen Colbert’s show.

“…mockers go by the wayside…”

I wonder if McDonald’s is hiring.

Denny Hoskins, Fired Up!, General Assembly, missouri, SB 66

Representative Denny Hoskins (r – noun, verb, CPA) has been taking some heat here and from Fired Up! over his lame advocacy of SB 66 which would remove financial disclosure statements for officials in certain towns.

Heh. By his Twitter posts he indicates that he reads Fired Up!:

FiredUp thinks its great idea for unpaid, volunteer city council mmbrs to list their kids place of work on Persnal Financial Disclosure-SB 66 about 1 hour ago from web

And if you would read the Warrensburg Daily Star Journal, Denny, you’d note that Stan Hall, from Knob Noster, agrees with Fired Up!.

Parkinson/Dickhaus-Tried unsuccessfly to find some info on FiredUp about Nixon’s “pay to play” offer to Rep. Molendorp&Zerr.Any Suggestions? 37 minutes ago from web

I thought since the KC Star, STL Post Dispatch, Springfield News Leader, AP, MO Net picked up the story I could find info on FiredUp.No luck 33 minutes ago from web

Here’s a suggestion for you, Denny – do you have any proof other than a business card? Have “Molendorp&Zerr” said that Governor Nixon contacted them? That’s standard republican operating procedure – throw some shit against the wall in the vague hope that something sticks.

And then there’s this gem:

After “Pay for Play” offers from Gov’s admin to House Members, now may not be the appropriate time to debate SB 66…15 minutes ago from web

Heh. Switching gears after 45 minutes. Denny must be slowing down – it used to take him 18 minutes.

Denny, Denny, Denny, you don’t pick a fight with anyone who buys electrons by the terabyte.

A Receipt for New Insurance (De)Regs

Fired Up!, insurance industry regulations, matt blunt

Charlie Shields admitted to the media last week that Republicans in this state don’t care who knows how bought they are. Fired Up! has more proof of it, as if we needed any:

Matt Blunt’s Department of Insurance is reportedly poised to implement new insurance regulations that were written by the insurance industry. Those rule changes (in 20 CRS 100-7 and 100-8) will receive a public hearing on June 12th of this year. According to insiders, these new rules will allow for an effective administrative deregulation of the insurance industry in the state, boosting insurance company profits.

Why would Blunt have his Department of Insurance cronies concoct new industry-friendly regs as he makes his way through the final lame duck months of his term? Money, of course.

$300,000 over the last three years or so. You can see the exact contribution amounts, dates and donors at Fired Up! Think of the list as a receipt for services rendered.
