The Jackson County Democratic Committee held its annual Truman Gala in Kansas City last night. The sold out event included remarks from local and statewide office holders and a keynote address from Michigan Senator Debbie Stabenow.

The 2018 election was one of the many themes of the evening, both in discussions before the formal program and in the remarks of speakers.

Each of the members of Congress who spoke also informed the crowd that the activism from individuals taking place now – phone calls, emails, participation at town halls, and marches – are working. “Keep doing what you’re doing” was a common refrain.
