21st Senate District, campaign finance, David Pearce, Mike McGhee, missouri, Missouri Ethics Commission
Today, at the Missouri Ethics Commission:
C051254 06/30/2012 MCGHEE FOR SENATE Missouri Club for Growth P.O. Box 2068 St Louis MO 63158 6/29/2012 $40,000.00

Now, who might that be? Or maybe they just prefer the really right wingnuts in the republican party.
Hmm. The republican primary in the 21st Senate District is attracting some serious money.
There is an upside in still having a landline. I have now received four “polling” calls in the last week.
The first one when asked whether I planned to vote in the Republican or Democratic Party in August I stupidly said Democratic. Today, I answered Republican.
The very first question was who I was voting for for state senate. I said I was likely to vote for Pearce.
I was asked what is my number one issue. I couldn’t name one. A lot of issues are important to me.
Here is why I think it was a push poll, or at least, someone figuring out how to attack Pearce. I now got a serious of questions about whether I would be more likely or less likely to vote for X if I knew the following.
Two negatives against Pearce:
1) As School Board President he hired a coach who had a history of sexual harassment.
2) He voted for a bill that put bronze faucets and imported marble in remodeling of a bathroom in Jefferson City. When I said how stupid that charge was the “interviewer” said that she knows it is true. Not exactly an uninterested interviewer.
Other issues: McGhee is for public prayer and cutting the budget. Pearce is for VA benefits not being taxed.
The negative on McGhee: he refused to vote on certain ethics legislation.
I was asked about right-to-work and whether I was a member of a union.
Finally, I was asked whether I was a traditional Republican or a Tea Party Republican. I said I have no idea what a traditional Republican is: Lincoln who freed the slaves: TR who started conservation; Nixon who started the EPA; Reagan who raised taxes.
I was asked whether I was pro-life or pro-choice. Of course, I’m pro-life. I said, “Unlike the leader of our party in the US Senate, I’m concerned about the 30 million Americans who have no health insurance. I’m deeply concerned about all our fellow Missourians who have no insurance and I hope that we will apply for the money to insure them.”
It will be fun to see all the crap that will be filling up our mailboxes this month.
Finally, I was switched to a “supervisor” who confirmed I was someone who would be voting in the Republican primary. Is this how firms make sure their callers are doing their job?
