So here’s the situation: We’ve got unemployment running at somewhere around 9% nationally. This means lots of folks are unemployed. They’re unemployed because there are no jobs. Even Republicans realize, on some level, that this is true – it is because that there are no jobs that they claim don’t want to tax “job creators,” and while you might quibble that they are confusing categories, it is clear that they are acknowleging the desperate need for jobs.

Move from the abstract situation to the survival of those millions of Americans without jobs. President Obama and congressional Democrats have proposed extending unemployment insurance benefits yet again. But theilr  not content to just hand over some cash, h for a giveaway
