In October 2000:

…Bush gazed around the diamond-studded $800-a-plate crowd and commented on the wealth on display.

“This is an impressive crowd – the haves and the have-mores,” quipped the GOP standard-bearer. “Some people call you the elites; I call you my base…”

The Missouri Ethics Commission compiles daily updates of 48 hour campaign contribution reports for amounts over $5,000.00. This always makes for interesting reading. Missouri Lt. Governor Peter Kinder (r), with debt of over $300,000.00 from the 2008 campaign, has been doing quite well with his base since January:

And that campaign debt from 2008 (from the Missouri Ethics Commission – January 15, 2010 campaign finance report)?:

That sort of adds up, doesn’t it?

You’ve just got to be impressed with the results of Missouri republican campaign fundraising strategeries aimed at their base: Tom Schweich (r) for Auditor: apparently people give big bucks to rock stars
