It’s getting hard to keep track of all of Ed Martin’s excuses for his ethics problems. He had too much to do as a private citizen, family man, and small business owner (a lawyer!), and the ethics form was too difficult to fill out without his hand being held by the federal government. Adam and Sean demolished both of those.

Now, via St. Louis Activist Hub, Adam points out that another of Ed’s excuses is bunk. Ed Martin had claimed that one reason it took him so long to even get started on the process of filing the required ethics form was that he wasn’t even sure that he would run for Congress. But a commenter at St. Louis Activist Hub pointed out that Ed had registered his Ed Martin for Congress website in 2008:

Domain Name: EDMARTINFORCONGRESS.COM

Registrar: GODADDY.COM, INC.

Whois Server: whois.godaddy.com

Referral URL: http://registrar.godaddy.com

Name Server: NS1999.HOSTGATOR.COM

Name Server: NS2000.HOSTGATOR.COM

Status: ok

Updated Date: 29-sep-2009

Creation Date: 29-oct-2008

Expiration Date: 29-oct-2010

In other words, Ed Martin wasn’t just mulling a run for Congress based on the urgings of fellow Tea Partiers in the summer of 2009. He was seriously considering it even before the last election!
