President Obama participated in a lengthy give and take with House republicans at their obstructionism planning session “issues conference” in Baltimore, Maryland today. The republicans made the mistake of agreeing to broadcast the event. Absolutely brilliant miscalculation on their part.
It’s nice to actually have a President who can think. Then again, the environmental contrast was stark.

“…But if you were to listen to the debate and, frankly, how some of you went after this bill, you’d think that this thing was some Bolshevik plot. No, I mean, that’s how you guys — (applause) — that’s how you guys presented it….”

The transcript:
I think the most encouraging “take away” from the session with Repubs yesterday was Obama’s comment that they should be careful what they tell their constituents because “they might begin to believe you.” Some of the Repubs who have said the most vile things about Obama and the Dems are now facing primary challengers from the even more extreme right in their own party. They’ve boxed themselves in. How can they say Obama is evil incarnate and then be seen working with him to solve the country’s problems.
As the worm turns…………..
I felt like I was watching the end of the first Matrix film, when Keanu Reeves’ character finally wakes up and realizes the power that he has. He handles the previously menacing agents with ease, parrying blows with one hand without an ounce of strain. That’s basically what it looked like here.
And it really pissed off Republicans like Paul Seale, who whined to Tony Messenger on Twitter that it wasn’t fair that the cameras were on.
