Sarah Palin, in an WSJ Op-ed today, came out today for “voucherizing” Medicare.  She echoes a common Republican claim that seniors would be better off if, instead of having  the guaranteed access to needed health service that Medicare offers, they received a voucher that they can use to purchase private insurance.

In case you think La Palin’s proposal reflects any original thinking , you might want to recall that the details of the initially numberless alternative budget that Republicans released, appropriately enough, last April Fool’s day proposed among other private sector giveaways to “shrink the budget by replacing Medicare with vouchers, turning Medicaid into block grants,… .”
