We’re live at Senator Claire McCaskill’s town hall on the campus of UMKC. Blue Girl will be posting via Twitter as the event proceeds. Meanwhile, here are a few photos of the crowd:
Are you here to defend your preconceived positions or listen to your constituents?
McCaskill is probably too good a politician to turn it around on the person asking it: “Are you here to listen to my answers or to push your preconceived position?” but it has to occur to most unbiased listeners.
…approximately 1200 to 1500 people in attendance. The town hall lasted a little over an hour. The majority of the crowd were pro health care reform. The disruptive teabaggers in attendance were a vocal yet very small minority. And they were a small minority of the anti health care reform crowd in attendance. It was interesting to see and hear the difference between this town hall and the one in Hillsboro almost two weeks ago.
I hope there ain’t no gun totin persons.
…a much more polite crowd than Hillsboro.
…gets cheers and boos.
Senator McCaskill: “There will not be a single payer bill enacted by the U.S. Senate.”
..is not conducive to Teabagger’s hijacking it. It seems to set a few of them off.
