There’s lots of parquet to walk around on in the foyer of the governor’s mansion. Only this small seating area in front of the fireplace–and the docents–would keep a person from roller skating in here.
Opposite the seating area is this … hmm. I wonder if they actually store anything in that elegant cabinet.
Pictures of first ladies adorn the walls in the foyer and the main parlor. These two photos show the walls on either side of the door into the dining room.
…they do. Years ago while I was visiting the mansion as they were setting up for one thing or another, a docent opened the cabinet and retrieved some stuff (and I really can’t remember what it was).
Last time I was there playing the state harp…Bob Holden was still Gov…they found the set of extra harp strings in this cabinet. I needed to replace several stings on the instrument. It took them awhile to find the extra set. They looked in just about every cabinet and drawer in the place-I was going to offer ot help look, but I figured they did not want me looking into “State Stuff”.
