When SB 485 walked through the Missouri House, Jason Smith had an idea. He attached his bill, HB 681, to the bill. (That bill has been covered before). The amendment passed via voice vote after making it through previous question.

So they want to go the route where state offices are vacant for months before a special election, instead of one where there’s an appointment and a special election (a reasonable middle ground). Hope you enjoy your low turnout $1M special election in April.
