This is pretty rich. Rep. Roy Blunt (R-Joplin) heard McCaskill say at one of her town hall forums that “the country tried the strategy of George W. Bush and now, ‘we’re in the ditch.'” Blunt was all like, “Nuh-huh!” According to Blunt, Bush warned us repeatedly about lax mortgage regulations, and we just didn’t listen. And Congress (with Blunt in the leadership) stopped Bush. And Bush stopped himself. Or something.

In the real world, of course, Bush ignored the warnings of mortgage regulators and touted the virtues of the “free market.” And Blunt voted against stricter mortgage regulations that only came up when Democrats gained the majority in the House.
