Republican state Sen. Matt Bartle said a lack of media oversight has resulted in less oversight in Jefferson City.

“I have noticed that given the economics of media, we have a whole lot less oversight of the legislature than when I began,” Bartle said. “Fewer and fewer reporters walk the halls of Jefferson City doing the investigative work that reporters need to do to keep public officials honest.”

Reporters in Jeff City don’t have to be Dick Tracy to make a difference when it comes to oversight. They could also report what the legislature is and isn’t doing. Stories like this on the Autism Insurance obstruction are becoming more of an exception than a rule these days.

So, if only there was some sort of webblog to add the information left out of the newspapers and off of the news shows. Then we might be doing slightly better. If only.
