There was an election of some sort
Absentee results show Slay up 65/26, Troupe ahead of Tyus, Antonio French leading Bernice King, Joseph Vaccaro leading in the 23rd, and Shane Cohn and Angela Singler running neck-in-neck in the 25th.
If interesting things are revealed, mention them.
Update: 30 of 203 precincts in. Slay up 61/32. Troupe wins 686-584 over Tyus. Shane Cohn wins with 46%. The 1st, 15th, and 25th are completely in. 12 precincts from wards not up this year are also in.
Update 2: 67 of 203 in. Slay up 71/23. Vaccaro wins. The 1st, 7th, 13th, 15th, 17th, 23rd, 25th are in. Also, McCowan leads DeVivo 53-26 in the Green Party Mayoral primary.
Update 3: Congratulations to Antonio French on his victory in the 21st Ward.
Update 4: All precincts in. Slay wins 62/32 (he won 66/31 in 2005). Bennice King is the only incumbent to lose (losing to Antonio French, who has probably scored one of the bigger electoral wins for a blogger ever).
if the 1st and 15th Wards are any indication – somewhere between 15-16%. Wonder if that will hold true throughout the city.
(Troupe wins over Tyus. As far as I know that isn’t a surprise. Shane Cohn wins the 25th)
it kind of sucks that they don’t report the citywide races on a ward basis, or even give all the precincts. Because you can’t get a feel for some pretty important Wards with this type of reporting.
with less than 49% of the vote. But we DID have over 26% turnout.
I voted for Homan but I figured she wasn’t going to win. Vacarro had too much name recognition and the organization.
propositions on the ballot were? Looks like the Shaw Neighborhood taxing district proposition is failing. Is that for the xtra police protection?
