Missouri Senator Claire McCaskill has been updating folks via Twitter:
Kinda fun to be here late.Everyone on the floor. A constant low murmer. Dozens of simultaneous conversations. How friends are made.
Oh noes! Please not Lindsey Graham! And it would be too much to hear about David Vitter on Twitter. What about the Udall twins?
The next entry:
I don’t think we will get out of here before midnight.Final vote on bill Monday.Still more amendment votes tonight.
followed up by her note entry on 25 random things about her.
Claire’s behavior squares with Obama? She did not get a reward for her work for him. You don’t suppose she is his point person in the Senate?
And a sampling of some of the comments:
Says he is still crunching numbers but so far he thinks all the “silly stuff” Claire is so proud to cut out amounts to 600,000 jobs!
I haven’t read a better, more concise summary than this over at Tapped:
Galactically stupid.
Thank you Claire.
Yglesias slams McCaskill. And he says in much better words than I could ever come up with why her reasoning is faulty in that last Twitter post about reducing the silliness.
This has been my concern with Claire all along. She’s on the wrong page.
A Saturday night Twitter post from Claire McCaskill:
Uh, actually it’s not the amount. It’s things like throwing in the Alternative Minimum Tax patch at the expensive of actual, you know, stimulus spending just to cater to republicans who haven’t yet realized that they’re no longer in charge and the last eight years were an unmitigated disaster.
A word of advice. Never pick a fight with a Nobel Prize winning economist. You’ll lose every time and it won’t be pretty.
