We are one of the many progressive sites across the country that use Soapblox as a blogging platform. On Monday, they experienced some server problems, which disrupted our site briefly. On Tuesday, hackers hit their site and knocked out several of the big Soapblox-based blogs, including Pam’s House Blend, Blue Hampshire, and Blue Mass Group. Today, the proprietor of Soapblox just posted that he’s going to have to walk away because of hacker problems. This site is currently unaffected, but if we’re out of commission for awhile, you’ll know why. In any case, whether pacified can be coaxed back into action or we’re forced to host our blog on another platform, we plan on sticking around for a long time. In fact, we’ll have posts up later today about the start of the legislative session. Just wanted to keep y’all in the loop.
…There’s a Dkos thread about this right now, if you want to know more about the Soapblox problems.

Can you post an email address or a url people can go to in case this site goes down?

Spoke with a few folks, too.
We got our press passes from the House Communications office and then went over to the Senate to sign in at the designated senatorial office. We ended up at the press table “near” the floor of the Senate. One of the old media folks came in at the last minute and told Blue Girl, “You’re sitting in my seat, you’re gonna have to move.” Blue Girl stated, “We have credentials, too.” He replied, “That’s me. [pointing to a plaque underneath the table top]. I gave my chair to Blue Girl, exited the press entrance under everyone’s gaze, and made my way to the gallery to watch and photograph the proceedings.
The supreme irony? After all of the fanfare of the opening of the session, most of the media left the press table. Blue Girl was the last press person to leave the table – two hours after the 11:30 start.
The old media is no longer the information gatekeepers, thanks to the internets…
