Gone Mild, always worth a read, has a blistering take on Claire McCaskill as DNC Chair. He’s of course mistaken that McCaskill taking the position will mean we’ll get a new senator, and he’s a little harsher on her than I would have written (McCaskill is not worse than Talent, that’s for sure.)
But like I said, worth a read.
I don’t have an issue with her primarying a sitting elected. Primaries keep people in office honest. If Bob Holden had been a stronger governor he would not have lost to her; I felt confident that he was going to lose to Blunt if he had gotten the nomination.
And although I disagreed with her on the war spending vote, she did vote with most Democrats. It was FISA that really turned me against her. Especially when she crossed over to vote with the Republicans to get the original amendment passed. But even that isn’t a reason she shouldn’t be the head of the DNC. The DNC isn’t a policy organization.
She failed to “deliver Missouri for Obama in a blue tide year”. Yep. And DOESN’T bode well for a DNC chair. That would be my biggest issue with Claire as head of the DNC. You ought to be able to deliver your own state. Especially when you are front and center in the candidate’s campaign.
But as a Dem and how she ran, well, she’s crappy.
You wanna bet that as long as she votes like a Repup Lite Senator for the next 4 years, she’ll get hammered in a general election by whichever rabid wingnut the Missouri Repups toss at her?
HUGE disappointment. HUGE. Hell, I wouldn’t put it past her to vote to keep Lieing Joe in his chairmanship seat.
