Who subsequently wonders why McCaskill didn’t get a primetime slot to give a red meat speech. Unbelievable!
Here’s the speech in case you missed it:
On second viewing, McCaskill didn’t grate on me the way it did the first time. The negatives are still there – she looks like she’s working way too hard to be enthusiastic, she’s got some awkward metaphors, and she quotes Obama a little too much.
On the plus side, McCaskill sure does know how to deliver some great anti-McCain lines with a smile, doesn’t she? She really shined in that role on Monday night, which otherwise largely ignored McCain.
dumb reporters …
Claire doesn’t grate on me at speeches. I’ve always been amazed at how she can deliver a left hook while smiling. She’s always perky. And she’s always on point.
That being said, she’s really not a GREAT speaker. There’s always something missing in the arc of her speeches. But I thought she did fine on Monday night. It was unfortunate she wasn’t covered. And it is even more unfortunate that there are so many baaaaaaad speakers. I don’t remember who suggested that the Dems put in a program of speaking coaches for up-and-comers but I think it is a great idea.
