Campaign event advance and execution is such a thankless task for those who have to deal with all of the myriad details.
Everything has to be geared towards the particular message of the day. Any distraction at the event causes the media to chase the next sparkling bauble – well, because they’re bored. Homemade signs are becoming a big no-no at presidential campaign events precisely because the content can’t be controlled and the sign gets in the way of the visual (in addition to blocking someone else’s view of the event).

Presidential campaigns (if their advance team has it together) restrict signs. Here’s a campaign event announcement:
…The event is free and open to the public; however, space is limited, and tickets are required.
For security reasons, do not bring bags and limit personal items. No signs or banners are permitted.

The thing is, they won’t allow you in with a sign or banner, but they probably wouldn’t have you arrested. Unless you’re intent on being obnoxious and uncooperative. At any rate, you’re not going to get into an event with a sign or banner if they don’t want you to.
Here’s the easy solution, if you want to present a dissenting meme at a McSame event. Wear a dark shirt to cover a t-shirt which expresses your sentiments. After you get inside the event and after it has started, unveil your message. Even more subtle, get eleven friends to join you at the event, each with a t-shirt under a dark shirt (don’t dress in the same colors or everyone will know that something’s up) – the t-shirts each with one large letter so that you all can spell a phrase. Be sure to enter together so you can spell out your message. Practice, too, or you might come up with a slightly incomprehensible anagram, like:
Cabin Chums
A Bums Cinch
Ban Much Sic
Mac Bunch Is
Scam Bunch I…
