I went to her and Rachel Storch’s fundraiser/reception last night on the Loop. Maria’s primary challenger is constantly following her around and harassing her, including to the reception, and Maria’s father is in poor health.
I’m going to a barbeque later and then will probably watch the webster groves fireworks.
Let’s not forget what the colonsts were up against on July 4, 1776. A British war fleet had arrived in New York Harbor weeks before to quell the rebellion. A massive flee: 30 battleships, 30,000 soldiers, 10,000 sailors, and 300 supply ships.
It was an act of tremendous bravery for the men in Philadelphia to decide to take on the most powerful nation on earth.
It still is. Even when it is your own government.
I can’t believe I avoided one for so long. I presume this had something to do with my weakness in registering for his dumb website 2 weeks ago (I’ve remedied stupidity on my part by hitting unsubscribe on all the emails they’ve sent me asking for money).
But this was a pleasure. Because I could tell the little girl on the phone in no uncertain terms that although I voted for Senator Obama in the Missouri primary and I normally made sure to max out my contributions to Democratic candidates, no he could not expect my financial support. Not unless he did the right thing on FISA.
I hope she had a clue what FISA was so she could spell it right on the list I hope they have her keeping of responses. Since she sounded like a college student I have no real faith that she even had a clue what I was talking about.
