ST. LOUIS – The Communication Workers of America Local 6355 – Missouri State Workers Union announced today that they are endorsing Stacey Newman for State Representative in the 73rd District.

The Communication Workers of America Local 6355 represents over 7,000 Missouri government employees and has endorsed Stacey because of her “priorities of expanding public employee union rights, ending the gender pay gap in state government, and improving access to healthcare in our state.”

In a letter to the campaign CWA Local 6355 stated, “Four in five members of our local union are women…and are among the most poorly paid government employees in the nation. We are largely a union of social workers, case workers, teachers, secretaries, and file clerks. Your leadership on behalf of equity in pay for working women was the determining factor in our decision to endorse your candidacy.”

“I am honored to receive the CWA endorsement and look forward to working closely with the union’s members to make our state a better place for working families,” Newman said.
