The Missouri Ethics Commission (pdf) met yesterday morning and disqualified candidates for failure to file personal financial disclosure statements as required by statute:
105.492 RSMo…2. If a candidate for office does not file a financial interest statement by the close of business on the twenty-first day after the last day for filing for election for which the person is a candidate, the commission shall notify the official who accepted such candidate’s declaration of candidacy that the candidate is disqualified. Such election official shall remove the candidate’s name from the ballot…

Eight candidates for the House of representatives were disqualified, including republican challengers in the 44th, 46th, 74th, and 124th.
…But in cases where the disqualified candidate was the only candidate for a particular party, that political party now will have the opportunity to select a new candidate…
Those party committees could meet and select a replacement.
Among those DQ’ed is the guy who was the odds-on favorite to win in my house district, Sam Coleman. He was Hubbard’s hand-picked successor, and his opponent only raised $500 in the 1st quarter.
We won’t have Bill Clinton to kick around any more… Bill Clinton Young, that is.
