We’re never gonna tire of that.

$5,001.00 – there it is again. It’s become such a cliché.

We imagine a fundraising pitch something like this:

“That he which hath no $5,001.00 to this fight,
Let him depart; his passport shall be made….

…This day is call’d the 2016 republican gubernatorial primary.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam’d,
And rouse him at the name of the 2016 republican gubernatorial primary….

….Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb’red.
This story shall the good man teach his son;
And the 2016 republican gubernatorial primary shall ne’er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world….

….And big dollar contributors across America now a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs’d they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon the 2016 republican gubernatorial primary day.”

Hey, that could work for $5,001.00.

Today at the Missouri Ethics Commission for Eric Greitens’ (r) 2016 gubernatorial campaign:

C151053 12/07/2015 GREITENS FOR MISSOURI Michael Steinhardt 712 5th Ave. Floor 34 New York NY 10019 Self Philanthropist 12/7/2015 $5,001.00

[emphasis added]

Nope, can’t vote in the republican primary.
