SurveyUSA released a 600 sample poll of “adults” on December 18th taken in Missouri from December 11th through the 13th. The margin of error is 4.1%. The poll was sponsored by KCTV in Kansas City.

President Obama’s overall approval numbers have improved when compared to the November survey (there was no October release from SurveyUSA). And the December numbers are similar, though slightly better than, the September survey.

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as President?

All

45% – approve

52% – disapprove

3% – not sure

Democrats [36% of sample]

75% – approve

22% – disapprove

3% – not sure

republicans [29% of sample]

11% – approve

86% – disapprove

3% – not sure

Independents [28% of sample]

46% – approve

52% – disapprove

3% – not sure

The numbers among Democrats (generally very good) and republicans have remained relatively unchanged. The percentage of self-identified Democrats in this sample (36%) is significantly higher than the percentage (30%) in the November poll. There has been a significant improvement in approval among “Independents” and, as a result, there is a corresponding improvement in President Obama’s overall numbers. It is possible that the November poll numbers were an outlier.

SurveyUSA released a 600 sample poll of “adults” on November 23rd taken in Missouri from November 20th through the 22nd. The margin of error is 4%. The poll was sponsored by KCTV in Kansas City.

President Obama’s overall approval numbers have continued to decline when compared to the September (there was no October release from SurveyUSA) and August surveys.

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as President?

All

12% – approve

82% – disapprove

6% – not sure

Independents [32% of sample]

33% – approve

65% – disapprove

2% – not sure

The numbers among Democrats, republicans and “Independents” have remained relatively unchanged, though the percentage of self-identified Democrats in this sample (30%) is significantly lower than the percentage (37%) in the September poll. The percentage of republicans and “Independents” sampled in the November poll are correspondingly higher.

Get 24% of Democrats and/or 18% of self-identified Liberals to weigh in additionally in the approval column and the president’s overall approval numbers would look quite a bit better.

You got to dance with them what brung you. Go figure.

SurveyUSA released a 600 sample poll of “adults” on September 30th taken in Missouri from September 27th through the 28th. The margin of error is 4.1%. The poll was sponsored by KCTV in Kansas City.

President Obama’s overall approval numbers have continued to decline when compared to the August and July surveys.

There has also been a relatively small, though still continuing, decline in approval among Democrats. The republican approval numbers have remained essentially unchanged. The “Independent” numbers have improved. While the “Independent” numbers have improved slightly this subsample is larger than the August poll and contributed to the decline in the overall approval number. The difference between the August and September approval numbers is still within the margin of error in both polls.

SurveyUSA released a 600 sample poll of “adults” on June 17th taken in Missouri from June 12th through the 14th. The margin of error is 4.1%. The poll was sponsored by KCTV in Kansas City.

There has been some erosion in approval when compared to the April survey. More on the May survey after this:

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as President? (June 2009)

All

51% – approve

45% – disapprove

80% – disapprove

4% – not sure

Independents [25% of sample]

39% – approve

56% – disapprove

5% – not sure

There’s some slippage among “Independents”.

The May report is up on the SurveyUSA website, but has no release date. The interviews took place on May 28th and 29th. The survey has a 600 sample of “adults”, a margin of error of 4.1%, and was sponsored by KCTV in Kansas City:

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as President? (May 2009)

All

52% – approve

44% – disapprove

16% – approve

81% – disapprove

3% – not sure

Independents [21% of sample]

51% – approve

41% – disapprove

9% – not sure

The “Independents” in this poll appear to be a little underrepresented and a little more positive than the bracketing April and June polls.

There is a distinct gender gap in both the May and June polls, with women giving higher approval numbers to President Obama.

There is no sign here of the gender gap from March.

Obama has net approval in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Northern Missouri – and a small net disapproval in the Southeast. He has significant net disapproval in the Southwest.

Independents [20% of sample]

50% – approve

The overall numbers are a significant improvement over the previous month.

The party affiliation subsamples are somewhat similar to those in the January poll and differ from the February poll with significantly more self-identified Democrats and fewer “Independents”.

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as President?

Male [48% of sample]

50% – approve

48% – disapprove

Female [52% of sample]

Now there’s a significant gender gap.

Obama has net approval in Kansas City, St. Louis, Northern Missouri, and the Southeast. He has significant net disapproval in the Southwest.

SurveyUSA released a 600 sample poll of “adults” on February 24th taken in Missouri from February 20th through the 22nd. The margin of error is 4.1%. The poll was sponsored by KCTV in Kansas City.

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as President?

15% – approve

80% – disapprove

6% – not sure

Independents [27% of sample]

46% – approve

44% – disapprove

11% – not sure

The party affiliation subsamples differ significantly from the previous poll (immediately after the inauguration), with only “Independents” remaining similar.

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as President?

Male [48% of sample]

52% – approve

44% – disapprove

5% – not sure

Female [52% of sample]

42% – disapprove

8% – not sure

Again, there doesn’t appear to be much of a gender gap.

Obama has net approval in Kansas City, St. Louis, and Northern Missouri. He has net disapproval in the Southwest and the Southeast..

It would be prudent to watch the trends (over time) in these polls.

SurveyUSA released a 600 sample poll of “adults” on January 22nd taken in Missouri from January 20th through the 21st. The margin of error is 3.9%. The poll was sponsored by KCTV in Kansas City.

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as President?

All

65% – approve

21% – disapprove

14% – not sure

Democrats [43% of sample]

89% – approve

5% – disapprove

5% – not sure

republicans [26% of sample]

37% – approve

42% – disapprove

21% – not sure

Independents [26% of sample]

53% – approve

27% – disapprove

20% – not sure

If we go by the proportion in the party affiliation subsample it would seem that the republican brand in Missouri is not doing so well. The republican “deadenders” account for slightly under 12% of the entire sample (46% of the 26% who are republican).

Do you approve or disapprove of the job Barack Obama is doing as President?

Male [48% of sample]

64% – approve

23% – disapprove

13% – not sure

Female [52% of sample]

67% – approve

18% – disapprove

15% – not sure

There doesn’t appear to be much of a gender gap.

Obama has net approval across all regions of the state, with the strongest numbers in St.Louis, Kansas City, and the Southwest (!).

It’ll be interesting to see how these numbers move (or don’t) over time.
