Rick: How can you close me up? On what grounds?
Captain Renault: I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!
[a croupier hands Renault a pile of money]
Croupier: Your winnings, sir.
Captain Renault: [sotto voce] Oh, thank you very much. [aloud]
Captain Renault: Everybody out at once!
Now that teabagtopia is waking up with the republicans who created the mess in the first place a few may be noticing that something may be amiss. Nah. Look, over there, another shiny bauble!
One of those right wingnut talking heads, via our good friend, the Carnahan Family Blogger:
Dick Morris said on Greta that @RoyBlunt ‘s earmark support was “ridiculous for any Republican.” #tcot about 12 hours ago via twidroid
Aw, I hear the Carnahan Family Blogger is unimpressed with me. That would mean something if it was worthy enough to care about. about 14 hours ago via Seesmic Desktop
Heh. Then why did you mention it? Just asking.
All #MO eyes on @royblunt to see if he joins McConnell in endorsing earmarks ban. Going on air with this shortly 2pm cdt 97.1 FM 971talk.com about 23 hours ago via Seesmic Desktop
Heh. Does a duck moo? Is a lobbyist altruistic?
liberty_central @DLoesch Mitch McConnell endorsed earmark ban. Will MO’s new Senator do so as well? about 23 hours ago via TweetDeck in reply to DLoesch Retweeted by DLoesch
I’m ready to start looking for a viable candidate who can run a GOOD campaign to primary Blunt unless he goes anti-earmark and ltd govt. 12:43 PM Nov 15th via Seesmic Desktop
Any bets that they’re quaking in their boots? Just like all the other rubes taken by these grifters two weeks ago they’re counting on your short attention span six years from now.
Are you kidding me? @clairecmc is opposing earmarks whereas @royblunt is not? http://bit.ly/d5sC4d 11:46 PM Nov 14th via Seesmic Desktop
“…I’m shocked, shocked to find that gambling is going on in here!…”
Update Senator Claire McCaskill (D) noticed:
@clairecmc Newly elected Sen from #MO is bucking R leadershp by supporting earmarks, while I continue to buck mine by fighting them.http://bit.ly/aMfm54 12 minutes ago via Twitter for iPad
Like Claire McCaskill will be a pushover for the republicans in 2012? Maybe not.
And the republican hypocrisy gets even better:
Freshman GOPer: Hey, Where’s My Health Care?
Josh Marshall | November 15, 2010, 11:14PMMaryland physician Andy Harris (R) just soundly defeated Frank Kratovil, one of the most endangered Democrats on Capitol Hill going into the November election. And he did it in large part by railing against ‘Obamacare’ and pledging to repeal Health Care Reform. But when he showed on Capitol Hill today for an orientation for incoming members of Congress and their staffs, he had a different question: Where’s my government health care?….
Also, at the Great Orange Satan (no, not that one): Republican freshman wants his government-run health care right now!
Silly, *IOKIYAR!
Pass the popcorn.
* it’s okay if you’re a republican
That an earmark ban is stupid. Instead of legislators helping to decide what projects are important for federal dollars back in their districts, unelected bureaucrats in DC will decide. And it’s a drop in the bucket as far as the federal deficit goes.
I find myself in the odd position of siding with Roy Blunt against Claire McCaskill.
…just two weeks after the election. To bad they won’t be able to do anything about it until 2016. As if they’ll remember.
