He will be missed. Here’s Kennedy’s speech one year ago today at the Democratic National Convention in Denver.
UPDATE: Senator McCaskill’s statement on the passing of her colleague:
“This man was so much more than his image,” McCaskill said. “While his vision soared, the power of his personality and the magnet of his intellect drew his colleagues to the table of compromise. It was there he did his best work. His love for the little guy and his affection for the underdog influenced everything he did. And importantly, his sense of humor and contagious laughter made him real and approachable in spite of his power and privilege.”
If I get any more comments from Missouri politicians, I’ll post them here.
Thanks for posting this.. he will be missed greatly. Now more than ever we need to get this health care done.
Teddy has been there my entire conscious adult life. It’s hard to believe he’s gone. It’s like losing a member of the family.
Certainly sad for his family and friends but even sadder for we who needed his voice and influence at this time. I would hope that the House and especially Senate would honor his life by doing the one thing that was most important to him at this time: passing a health care bill that would cover all people. He was truly a great Senator and a good man. This morning I was listening to Washington Journal on C-span 1 and was appalled to hear several, almost every other caller (Repugs, of course), drag up every criticism and accusation they could think of. It’s not enough for these b******s to lie about the living; they can really get wound up when the target can no longer answer them. Shame, shame, shame!
