We won the big one, We won the Governor’s office.
But I was disappointed in so many races in the state senate and state house. I’ll do a postmortem in a day or two. I think I might tear into a few things there.
But this is a night for celebration. Celebrate.
…is intact.
for Christian County? This is the second time I can remember. What’s the deal down there.
These results reinforce what I’ve been saying for years, never underestimate the redness of the rurl parts of this state. It’s entrenched and it’s not going away no matter what some of my urban-based blogger brethren say. Until there are other demographic trends that shake the foundations of this state, all those so-called “purple” areas will remain red.
That being said, percentage wise (poring thru the SoS data), yeah, at the Presidential level, the level of support was trimmed. In my extremely red county, Osage, my bat-shit, head-trauma wingnut neigbors “only” voted for McPOW 71.5%, down from 75% for Dubya in 04. And Obama support was at 26.5%, up 1.5% from four years ago.
Clearly it wasn’t enough. As Markos said over at Kos, in general, turnout sucked.
And that hurt Judy Baker in MO-09…badly. Of all the counties in her district, mine voted the least for her. Good lord, Gasconade county generated, percentage wise, more votes for her. It’s too bad cuz now, the seat will be Leutkemeyers as long as he wants it.
Sigh.
