It’s been a while since we’ve heard from Missouri Democrats’ favorite punching bag, Congressional Candidate Brock Olivo. Well, the wait is over, as Brock addressed the Boone County Lincoln Days attendees this month. Here’s the embed:
As a graduate of the University of Missouri–and someone who spent years cheering Olivo on as a football player–it’s hard for me to watch this embarrasment. But as a partisan Missouri Democrat, it doesn’t really get any better than this.
I’d dismiss his chances to win the nomination, but there are no heavyweights in the Republican field for the nomination in the Ninth Congressional district. There’s Olivo, two non-descript state reps (Danie Moore and Bob Onder) and a former state rep that hasn’t held elective office since 2004 (Blaine Luetkemeyer). In a four-way race, with no overwheliming favorite, can Olivo secure the nomination on residual name recognition? Please, Lord, make it happen.
Do you think the Mizzou Tigers will sue for copyright infringement on Brock Olivo’s logo?
And doesn’t Brock have a cousin or an uncle with a relatively new video camera? It looks like he recorded that video on his cell phone.
and one of the more virulently red areas, my kneejerk reaction to any Dem having a chance here is to laugh loudly. While not egregiously gerrymandered, this district was drawn to be very friendly to Republicans. As such, the Repups could run a dead cow and it would most likely get at least 55% of the vote.
But with this lineup, and Olivo leading the charge, I’m beginning to think otherwise.
Still gonna be an uphill battle but the steepness of the incline has lessened.
his strengths include being from Gasconade (which gets out to vote in the Republican primary) and his ties to Boone (MU) and Franklin (St. Francis Borgia Regional HS) Counties.
That’s going to make him a lot more formidable than you’d think. Plus, for all we know, Onder and Moore split the vote of the I-70 corridor.
And I don’t think much of the district north of Columbia is going to be a factor for any specific candidate here. Aside from Kirksville, maybe.
Olivo is affable and makes the usual claim of being “fiscally conservative.” That makes him way better than a dead cow.
