I’ll probably vote for McCaskill against whatever godawful candidate the Republicans put up against her, but I can’t honestly urge people to vote for her. I won’t be doorknocking, calling people, blogging on her behalf, forwarding her links on Facebook, nothing. And her support of the “Deficit Commission” proposals is only the latest reason.
Maybe she thinks she can peel off a few Republican voters by trying to balance the budget on the backs of the elderly and the less fortunate, but she’s going to lose the enthusiasm of a lot more Democrats like me than she will gain on the other side of the aisle.

How sad! I had such great pride in McCaskill. She showed such promise. Now she seems to be taking a page from Robin Carnahan’s losing playbook. Ignore or blow off the people that are most likely to vote for you and try to woo the folks who have already decided they don’t like you, won’t support you and sure as heck won’t vote for you. How pathetic! It’s like the high school nerd hanging around the locker room in hopes that the pretty cheerleaders will think he’s a star football player.
Maybe its time for those of us on the left to look for someone to run against Claire. She has kicked us to the curb so I really don’t feel any need to support her in any way, Now, if Claire was to come to her senses and, as the truly effective Lyndon Johnson said, “dance with them that brung ya” then we can welcome her into the fold. Until then, we have some excellent candidates who won;t forget THEIR voters.

I think it’s easier to deal with a Republican if they have an (R) after their name than if they have a (D). I won’t be voting for her.

I may not agree with her 100% of the time, but I do about 90% and that’s enough for me… Plus, she has a big set of (you know what) and stands up to the lying hypocrites (aka Republicans) and that’s what we need in a Senator… someone who stands up and speaks the truth. I have never been as proud of my Senator as I was when I saw her in action at those nasty Town Halls in 2009. When the crazy tea baggers where shouting “death panels” and other crazy Glen Beck talking points, she stood up and spoke facts and showed everyone how stupid the tea baggers are. Furthermore, Claire is one of the most selfless, compassionate politicians I’ve met. In 1999 (when she was our State Auditor), my sister was working for her in that office. The year before (1998) my mother was killed by a 16 year old that had escaped from a juvy camp and the Probation-Parole folks were going to recommend to the Judge he get sent back. When Claire heard about this, she contacted my sister and gave us the advice on how to bring this to the attention of the media and put pressure on the judge & prosecutor to send this guy to prison. She did this all “behind the scenes” and not trying to get any attention. She did this because she saw the potential of a dangerous murderer being placed back in a camp in which he escaped and a family that may not see justice for their loved one…. she did this because she cares.
I told this story because I want my fellow progressives to know, while we may not 100% agree with Claire, she cares about us and fights hard for us. We may not always agree with Claire, but if we try to take her out in a primary, we may “cut off our nose to spite our face” and lose in the general to the repub… and that my friends, would be a disaster. So if we don’t work hard for her re-election (phone calls, door knocks, etc.), the other side will for their candidate, Roy Blunt will become the Senior Senator from Missouri and Jim Talent will be his yes man… what a nightmare !!
