According to Congress Matters, Claire McCaskill might be rethinking her blue-dog allegiances. Is it just that she is conflicted — Obama’s agenda vs. the agenda of getting reelected in Reddish-Purple Missouri? Or does it indicate an emerging strain of real Democratic principle — principle, that is, involving something other than accounting matters — beginning to trump expediency?

actually has been looking at poll numbers and seeing that her blue-dog allegiances didn’t help her break through with the independents in the numbers she needs to start getting?
The Republicans are never going to like her. But independents won’t support her “no matter what” like Democrats. She needs to start standing for something. Principles are good. Independents like principles.

Ain’t seen it since she’s been elected, not on anything that actually matters.
