Monday, Sept. 22 Jim Fitz, a member of CPT, will be at Plowsharing Crafts discussing his experiences in Columbia protecting farmers from guerillas and paramilitaries. The event starts at 7 PM and you can get the details

Tuesday, Sept. 23 at 7 PM. Webster University continues its film series for the International Year of Human Rights with Nobelity, a look at the world’s most pressing problems through the eyes of nine Nobel Laureates. You can get the full scoop at this link.
Also Tuesday, members of the Peace Economy Project will be outside of Boeing discussing the idea of a Peace Economy with workers. You can get the details and RSVP here.
Wednesday, Sept. 24 at 7 PM. The Latin Amerca Forum is back with a showing of “How Cuba Survived Peak Oil.” The event is at the Oak Bend Branch Library and you can find out more at this link.
Thursday, Sept. 25 at 12:30. Voices for Gender Equality at UMSL will be having a discussion on “Barracuda or Caribou Barbie? Sarah, Hillary, and Gender in US Politics.” It’s at the SGA Chambers on the third floor of the Millenium Student Center at UMSL, has free pizza, and will be facilitated by Dr. Farida Jalalzai, a specialist in gender and politics. Friday, Sept. 26 from 5:30 to 7:30. ‘Bill Fletcher, Author of the book “Solidarity Divided”, Labor Organizer and Community Activist is giving a presentation about local organizing in the community, politically and otherwise.’ The title of the talk is “Is a President Obama Enough” and you can RSVP here.
Also Friday, the STL Young Dems will be hosting a watch party for the first debate between Obama and McCain. The watching will be happening at the Performance Center at Harris Stowe State University, and starts at 7 PM. RSVP at this link.
Saturday, Sept. 27, 9 AM to 3 PM The 4th Annual Educating for Change Curriculum Fair will be held at Marillac Hall at 8001 Natural Bridge Road (on the UMSL Campus). There are some great speakers lined up for the day, as well as a number of displays from local groups. You can find out more at the IOW calendar.
Also Saturday, The Missouri Coalition for the Environment, which has a new facebook page , and the Earthways Center will be sponsoring a Green Homes Renewable Energy Festival based at 3617 Grandel Square. The event is from 10 AM to 6 PM and you can RSVP at this link.
