Eric Grietens’ (r) 2016 gubernatorial campaign filed its third quarter campaign finance report with the Missouri Ethics Commission on October 15th:
C151053: Greitens For Missouri
Committee Type: Candidate
4579 Laclede Ave #138 Party Affiliation: Republican
St Louis Mo 63108 Established Date: 02/24/2015
[….]Information Reported On: 2015 – October Quarterly Report
Beginning Money on Hand $1,135,070.68
Monetary Receipts + $1,412,378.54
Monetary Expenditures – $238,690.39
Contributions Made – $250.00
Other Disbursements – $0.00
Subtotal $1,149,872.76
Ending Money On Hand $2,284,943.44
[emphasis added]
It was a very good quarter, the best among all of the 2016 republican gubernatorial candidates.
The distribution:
The contribution listed as $20,074.54 is from the item reporting the aggregate of contributions $100.00 or less from individuals (line 13).
Interestingly, most of Eric Greitens’ (r) contributions came from out of state:
Those out of state individuals (and entities) can’t vote in the August 2016 primary.
Over 80% of the total contributed this quarter came in amounts of $5,000.00 or more.
Close to two thirds of the amount raised came in contributions of $25,000.00 or higher. There was a single contribution of a half a million dollars. This is not new in Missouri politics, nor is it particularly indicative of a populist surge within the state – the three largest contributions came from out of state.
The campaign made $262,505.78 in monetary disbursements this quarter. Some of the expenditures:

Here is Greitens (10/2/15) on his fundraising:
While Greitens has raised plenty of cash in Missouri, nearly 70 percent of his donations have come from outside the state as recently as early September, according to analysis by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. Greitens disputes that.
“We are funded by Missourians and we actually have conservative investors all over Missouri and all over the country who are investing in this race,” Greitens said. “So the facts are, one, we have raised more money in Missouri than all of our other opponents, two we have more donors in Missouri than all of our other opponents.” He added there were definitely supporters from around the country invested in this race since it is such a high-profile election.*
OK, but…………….
He does not dispute the fact that the vast majority of the money comes from outside Missouri.
However, when you consider how much Hanaway has from Sinquefield, I question whether his first statement is true. I’m shocked to think a Navy SEAL might lie.
Michael Bersin said:
Maybe it depends on what your definition of “Opponent” is.
Bob Yates said:
Is that even true? Hasn’t Gangway raised more money in Missouri than Greitens?
Is the claim about total number of contributors from Missouri true?
Bob Yates said:
Gangway is an appropriate way to refer to Hanaway.
