In the case of Erich “Mancow” Muller, it took six seconds before he admitted that waterboarding is torture, joining a vast chorus of people with one shred of a clue or knowledge of international law, norms, and precedents.
Mancow’s obviously not a real man, like Sean Hannity and he’ll need to say something mind-numbingly stupid and ignorant to get invited back on Fox News.

Repeat something forever and it becomes true. The more often people who don’t think waterboarding is torture but agree to undergo it and then change their minds, the more people will start to get the idea.

What frustrates me, is that in most of the recent media discourse on ‘enhanced interrogation’ aka torture, the cases of extraordinary rendition, in which the alleged terrorist captives were transported to nations where we knew and expected that they would be tortured, is an absolute violation of international and US law.
We even have George Bush going on about this in front of a town hall audience acting the apologist for the dark arts of VP Dick Cheney.

I have more respect for Mancow han I did because he at least researched to qualify his opinion and when he was wrong admitted it.
However, his waterboarding was nothing like what CIA was doing. CIA would have forcibly strapped him down so that he could not move. He would not have had the option to yell when he wanted it to stop. He would have been made to beleive that he was dying powerless in the hands of enemies over and over and over.
Meanwhile, as America debates whether waterboarding is torture and whether Pelosi “knew or not”, the real issue which is that a crime was committed is slipping away in the news wash. Obama let Bush off the hook when he refused to release the photos. America has gone so far to the right since Reagan that Obama looks like a liberal, but it ain’t so. He’s just one of the boys. Justice in America is dead. The laws only apply to us peons.
