And the Matt Blunt Administration is Over

I departed on a warm spring morning to move eastward via Amtrak to cover the Inauguration of Jay Nixon. Arriving before 10:30, I got the credentials and went towards the South lawn.

So how about some photos and events from the day that was?

First off the other statewide office holders were sworn into office.

Attorney General Chris Koster sworn in by Judge Joe Dandurand

Treasurer Clint Zweifel being sworn in

Secretary of State Robin Carnahan being sworn in

Lt. Governor Peter Kinder being sworn in

Matt Blunt gets an American flag from Jay Nixon, and I wonder later how I flubbed this shot with something blocking Matt Blunt’s face

And since the invocation went short, a brief pause before the swearing in.

And here goes.

Governor Jay Nixon being sworn into office

Then Jay Nixon gave his inaugural speech (which you can read here).

Then the Benediction was performed by Rabbi Susan Talve (Central Reform Congregation, St. Louis) with an interesting story involving the differences between Heaven and Hell and really long spoons (perhaps it was straws. Apologies if I misremembered that)

Afterwards, there was a photo-opportunity in the Governor’s office with Missouri small business owners. And perhaps I could have gotten a photo of that. But it was an interesting meeting. Jay left from there to greet tons and tons of people. I eventually ate some food from assorted places. And today was a pretty darned good and eventful day in Jeff City.
