Sure we’d love to think so, but I don’t assume that this posting had anything to do with Emanuel Cleaver signing on as a cosponsor of HR 676. Still, one of Michael Moore’s people e-mailed us at Show Me Progress to say that 14 days after the posting, Rep. Cleaver signed on, as did Rep. Clyburn (D-SC) two days after that.
That’s good news. Now, Mr. Carnahan, about your absence from that list …. And Mr. Skelton, would you consider it?
I think the writing is on the wall. MSN is now carrying info that employer based health insurance is on the wane. They (employers) can no longer afford it if they wish to remain solvent or competetive in global markets.
When this coverage goes down the tube, the last cover for singlepayer naysayers evaporates. The only message left for Americans will be “sink or swim, you are on your own”.
Of course there will be a hodgepodge of intricate, ineffective, and prohibitively expensive means of snagging a little health care here and there offered, but Americans will overall come to the crushing realization that “socialized medicine” or not, that is the ony path left open.
The more visionary pols are starting to sign on. The rest will have to be drug kicking and screaming to the alter. We must remain vigilant to see that a bill w. the parameters and intent of the Conyers bill is the road taken rather than some cockeyed scheme that allows the insurance industry to pollute HR 676.
Very recently (yesterday?) I saw a news clip of Hillary saying strongly and clearly that the country was NOT ready for single payer at present and so she supported a system that incorporated private insurers. If Skelton is endorsing Hillary, do you suppose he is buying into her health care ideas also?
