On March 31st SurveyUSA released a 600 sample poll taken in Missouri from March 14th through the 16th showing the approval numbers for Senators Claire McCaskill (D) and Kit Bond (r). Kit Bond’s overall approval numbers have gone up. Claire McCaskill’s approval numbers have changed little since February. The margin of error for Claire McCaskill is 4.1% and 4% for Kit Bond.

The poll was sponsored by KCTV in Kansas City.

The Democratic and republican approval/disapproval numbers for Claire McCaskill have remained stable.  26% disapproval and 5% “not sure” from Democrats for a sitting Democratic senator is not particularly stellar. The Independent disapproval numbers have gone up (though, I believe this group may be under sampled when compared to previous surveys). The percentage of the Independent sample has to got be a typo.

Kit Bond’s approval numbers have gone up among republicans and Independents. They remain the same among Democrats – but those numbers are significantly higher than Claire McCaskill’s approval numbers among republicans.  Telecom immunity “bipartisanship” doesn’t appear to be a two way street, eh?

Hmm. The republican “fear” base (terrorism and immigration) doesn’t appear to have been placated by the trashing of the Fourth Amendment. What now, Senator McCaskill?

The republican “fear” base (terrorism and immigration) just love their Kit. Kit Bond has net approval ratings from every group except those who think that education will be the most important issue facing the next president. The irony is spellbinding…
