McCaskill to endorse Obama
By Deirdre Shesgreen
POST-DISPATCH WASHINGTON BUREAU
01/12/2008WASHINGTON – Sen. Claire McCaskill will endorse Barack Obama’s presidential bid Sunday, a boost that comes as the Democratic presidential showdown intensifies in Missouri and the raft of other states set to vote on Feb. 5th.
McCaskill had intended to stay neutral in the race, keeping mum on her preference because, she said, she has to work with both front-runners, Obama and Sen. Hillary Clinton of New York, in the Senate.
But she abandoned her neutrality after an intense lobbying effort by Obama’s campaign…
Then, there’s this:
Former Missouri Governor Warren Hearnes, along with former First Lady Betty, today endorsed Hillary Clinton’s Campaign for President.
…Hearnes joins a list of high-level Hillary supporters in Missouri, including Congressman Emanuel Cleaver, former Governor Bob Holden, and former Secretary of State Bekki Cook…

Mike,
I posted my diary on this 40 minutes ahead of you. We both recognize how important this endorsement is for what happens in Missouri.

The meaningful endorsements mount for Senator Obama. I saw Kerry on the Stephanopolis show this morning and he was eloquent and is obviously “Fired up” in his support of Obama. (Where was that impassioned voice in his own race?)
In an earlier blog comment on this site, I suggested that if folks want to vote for the “first woman President”, they should encourage the career of Gov Napolitano of Arizona. Gov Napolitano is a great Progressive form a Western State. She has broad appeal, and she has endorsed Barack Obama.

endorsements are worth – but she is a superdelegate, right?
This should help Claire’s support in the black community and that’s always good for her. Didn’t she and Clay have some issues for a while?
On the whole I think that if she was going to endorse anybody, this made sense for her. And Obama did a lot for her in 2006, while Hillary came in and raised money for … herself.

I will stop doing this if we are all reading the same sources. However, I find the following observation made by McCaskill today interesting reading on the “inexperience” that Obama offers us.
Let’s remember that McCaskill is one of the few Senators who voted no on a major bill because it contained earmarks.
